king edward’s love seat
Sex in furniture – In 1890, King Edward VII commisioned this ‘love seat’ (as shown below) from Soubrier, a maker of sumptuous furnishings.
How many filthy gorgeous moves can you think of by using this chair? Cunnilingus. Sex with multiples. Up-skirt peepshow ?
It’s a strange object, designed for orgiastic indulgence, though I’ve yet to determine how it was best used. Putting aside the ‘how to use’ part, the chair’s interesting history started from one of the finest brothel in Paris (Le Chabanais), resold to an industrialist, a Parisian auction house, Herve Poulain & finally to a private buyer.
A writer sought out this chair and was able to contact the buyer, who assured him that it is still being put to good use.
